About "One Egg" Project
By the end of 2024, data from the World Bank and Nigeria’s National Bureau of Statistics showed that Nigeria has the largest number of people living in poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa. Roughly 40% of the population—live below the international poverty line, defined by the UN as earning less than $2.15 per day.
According to UNICEF, without proper nutrition, among Nigerian children, about 37% suffer from stunting, 7% from wasting, 22% are underweight, and around 68% are at risk of anemia.
An egg is powerful source of nourishment. It contains high-quality protein, choline, vitamins B12 and D, and key minerals
For years, low in communities have relied on aid and government subsidies, but most of these programs are short-term.
That’s where the “One Egg” Project comes in. Our vision is to help poor families make income so that every person can afford one more egg a day. Through small, easy-to-start businesses, mothers can bring at least $1 home profit every day.
In Lagos, a single egg sells for about ₦250, roughly $0.30, which means one US dollar can buy 3–4 eggs. While $1 a day may not cover every family member having an egg every day, it can at least provide one child—or a couple of family members—with an extra egg each day. Over time, families can continue earning $1 or more daily, turning that into a sustainable source of better nutrition.
